Restoring The Northern Drylands

The project aims to contribute to our strategic pillar of restoration of Northern Kenya Water Towers and Greening of Northern Kenya's Drylands
This is in line with the national 10% tree cover, the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration and AFR100 (the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative).. The project foundations include the following components .

Mt. Marsabit tree nursery

WEPKENYA x NETFUND

WEP has set up a 150,000 capacity tree nursery in Kamboe, Marsabit with the aim of being a source of quality site specific tree seedlings for planting in Marsabit County. The nursery will be a first of its kind in Northern Kenya. This is the first step in our goals of restoration

2.

CAPACITY BUILDING

WEP in collaboration with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) will build the capacities of pastoralist youth and women on tree planting and management as well as sensitization on climate change and its effects.
