RESTORING THE DRYLANDS

The project aims to contribute to restoration of Northern Kenya Water Towers and Greening of Northern Kenya's Drylands through community based tree Planting & management as well as increasing awareness of Indigenous youth & women on climate change and mitigation measures. We will also contribute to achieving the national 10% tree Cover in Marsabit County, Northern Kenya.

WEP TREE NURSERY

WEPKENYA x NETFUND

WEP has set up a 150,000 capacity tree nursery in Kamboe, Marsabit with the aim of being a source of quality site specific indigenous tree seedlings for planting in Marsabit County. The nursery will be a first of its kind in Northern Kenya. This will contribute to our goals of restoration.

CAPACITY BUILDING

WEP in collaboration with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) will build the capacities of pastoralist youth and women on tree planting and management as well as sensitization on climate change and its effects.
